National Quantum Sensor Programme

Launched in 2024, the National Quantum Sensor Programme (NQSP) enables national coordination of quantum sensing research efforts such as Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT), Remote Sensing (RS) and Biomedical Sensing and Imaging (BSI), as well as the engagement with end-users. The programme focuses on the translation of critical components and technologies beyond Technology Readiness Level 4 (Proof-of-Concept), and prioritizes sensing activities with high use-case impact to maximize economic opportunities and national needs. NQSP is led by Prof Johnson Goh, the Programme Director of the Quantum Engineering Programme (QEP).

Mr Ling Keok Tong, Executive Director, NQO, and Prof Johnson Goh, Programme Director, NQSP.

As of May 2025, five projects have been awarded under the NQSP, with support from industry partners in the form of cash and/or in-kind contribution:

Quantum Sensing Centre

NQO and MINDEF jointly launched the Quantum Sensing Centre (QSC) in March 2025. The QSC will host the co-development and system integration efforts related to NQSP projects that are co-funded by NQO-QEP and DSO.
