The National Quantum Office Singapore is proud to be a participating partner in the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ), proclaimed by the United Nations to be celebrated in 2025.
IYQ commemorates 100 years since the birth of quantum mechanics. Singapore has a shorter but sustained history in research in quantum science and technology, stretching back over two decades.
Throughout 2025, our quantum community will support scientific and industry events, and reach out to school and public audiences, to explore the contributions of quantum science to technological progress.
This page collects details of quantum events in Singapore throughout the year and some international events receiving NQO support. Check back for more events added through the year!

“This second quantum revolution is leading to breakthroughs in using quantum effects like superposition and entanglement for new applications. When these phenomena can be applied broadly to control and engineer matter at the level of single quanta, and even single atoms, they will spark transformations in a multitude of technologies.”

“We designed Singapore’s National Quantum Strategy to position Singapore as a leading hub in the development and deployment of quantum technologies with an important component on talent development. With this objective, it is most apt for us to, in the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, join global efforts to raise awareness of the importance of quantum science and technology and attract talent.”
Jenny Hogan
Associate Director, Outreach and Media Relations, Centre for Quantum Technologies
Chair, Singapore IYQ Workgroup
“Singapore has a vibrant community of quantum researchers and professionals who are excited about quantum every day. The International Year of Quantum Science and Technology in 2025 is a wonderful opportunity to bring this expertise and enthusiasm into interactions with wider audiences.”

“My wish for 2025, the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, is that we recall that the scientific foundations were developed in an atmosphere of open collaboration. We should not rush to restrict access to the technology. Humanity can benefit when the good outcomes are shared widely.”

Recognising the importance of quantum science and the need for wider awareness of its past and future impact, dozens of national scientific societies gathered together to support marking 100 years of quantum mechanics with a U.N.-declared international year.
On June 7, 2024, the United Nations proclaimed 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). According to the proclamation, this year-long, worldwide initiative will “be observed through activities at all levels aimed at increasing public awareness of the importance of quantum science and applications.”
Anyone, anywhere can participate in IYQ by helping others to learn more about quantum on this centennial occasion, participating in or organising an IYQ event, or simply taking the time to learn more about quantum science and technology.
