This week, NRF released the RIE2025 Report and the full RIE2030 Plan, outlining Singapore’s progress in research, innovation and enterprise over the past five years, and the roadmap for the next phase of growth through 2030. Singapore will invest S$37 billion over the next five years to drive national economic and strategic priorities, sustain investments in key sectors, and keep Singapore’s research capabilities and talent at the cutting edge.
The RIE2025 Report is a timely reminder that transformative technologies have been built through sustained investment over decades. A major milestone under RIE2025 for the quantum sector was the launch of a coordinated National Quantum Strategy, developed and implemented by NQO, to position Singapore as a key player in the global quantum landscape. NQO has established collaborations with leading global companies including Quantinuum, Nvidia, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Quobly, Pasqal, Keysight and Qolab — bringing in foreign investment, high-value jobs, and opportunities for local companies to plug into the global quantum ecosystem. The Centre of Quantum Technologies (CQT), established in 2007, was ranked 6th globally in 2025 by h-index among other quantum centres. Through sustained national investments in quantum science and engineering, Singapore has built a vibrant quantum ecosystem spanning research, talent, international collaborations and industry partnerships, positioning us as a trusted partner in the global quantum landscape and enabling us to capture emerging opportunities in quantum technologies.
As Singapore progresses towards the vision set out in RIE2030, quantum technologies will continue to contribute to a Trusted Smart Nation underpinned by AI, Quantum, and Digital Trust & Security.
Building on the National Quantum Strategy, NQO will continue to strengthen the emphasis on industry value capture and strong use-case drivers through the national-level quantum programmes (NQPs) – National Quantum-Safe Network (NQSN), National Quantum Computing Hub (NQCH), National Quantum Federated Foundtry (NQFF), National Quantum Sensor Programme (NQSP) and National Quantum Processor Initiative (NQPI). These NQPs serve as focal points to anchor company and user-agency partnerships and build up the quantum ecosystem. Together with efforts to keep CQT at the forefront of global quantum research and cultivate strong talent pipelines, these initiatives will help position Singapore as a leading quantum hub.
At the National Quantum Office, we look forward to continuing our work with researchers, industry, government, startups, investors, and international partners to strengthen Singapore’s vibrant quantum ecosystem and advance Singapore’s quantum ambitions under RIE2030.
