National Quantum-Safe Network Testbed Shortlisted for Global Digital Frontiers Award

Date: 08 September 2026

The National Quantum-Safe Network (NQSN) Testbed has been shortlisted for the Digital Frontiers Award at Digital@UNGA 2026. The NQSN Testbed was selected as one of 15 finalists from over 1,500 submissions across 146 countries, recognising its pioneering initiatives that leverage emerging technologies to address global challenges and shape a more inclusive digital future.
NQSN is a national-level quantum programme that brings together industry, academia and government partners to develop and trial quantum-safe technologies. Led by Professor Alexander Ling, Principal Investigator at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), together with key members of the NQSN team including CQT senior research fellows Hao Qin and Haw Jing Yan, the programme has grown into a nationwide quantum-safe network testbed spanning more than 30 partner organisations and over 1,500 km of deployed fibre across Singapore.

The winners and runners-up will be announced at the United Nations headquarters in New York on 21 September during a Digital@UNGA event.

Update: On 21 September 2026, NQSN was announced as one of four runners-up for the Digital@UNGA award. Alexander Ling (centre) received the award on behalf of the NQSN testbed at the Digital@UNGA event in New York.
