On 29 May 2025, the National Quantum Office (NQO) hosted a delegation from Quandela at Fusionopolis to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to mark the continuation of quantum collaborations between France and Singapore.
The MoU between NQO, the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) at A*STAR, the National University of Singapore and Quandela was signed by Mr. Ling Keok Tong, Executive Director of NQO, Dr. Su Yi, Executive Director of IHPC, Mr. George Loh, Associate Vice President (Strategic Partnership) of National University of Singapore [represented by Prof. José Ignacio Latorre, Director, Centre for Quantum Technologies], and Dr. Niccolo Somaschi, Co-Founder and CEO of Quandela. The MoU signing was witnessed by Mr Quek Gim Pew, Co-Chairman of the National Quantum Steering Committee (NQSC) and Dr. Mathieu Guerin, Attaché for Science and Technology, Embassy of France in Singapore.
Through Singapore’s National Quantum Computing Hub, this collaboration would start with the co-development of hybrid quantum-AI algorithms for chemistry, materials science, finance and optimisation, and jointly build a vibrant quantum ecosystem together.
The session also involved an introduction to Quandela by Dr. Somaschi, an introduction to the National Quantum Computing Hub by Dr. Su Yi and a short presentation on preliminary topics identified for collaboration by Prof. Latorre.
The MoU was also presented as part of a number of agreements at the France-Singapore Frontier Technologies Forum 2025 on 30th May 2025, which marks the 60th year of bilateral relations between France and Singapore.
